Mitzvah Projects – Turkey Trot
Temple Beth Chai Religious School Holds Its Fifth Annual Jewish Turkey Trot Benefiting Goodman Jewish Family Services of Broward County
Proceeds to Provide Publix & Wal-Mart Gift Cards for Families of Domestic Abuse
On Saturday, November 11, Temple Beth Chai Religious School hosted their fifth annual “Jewish Turkey Trot” at North Community Park in Coral Springs (5601 Coral Springs Drive). The students either walked, ran or trotted around a quarter-mile track, raising $5.00 from enlisted sponsors for each completed lap. All money raised by the students will be matched by Temple Beth Chai Religious School.
“Learning about Mitzvot is an essential part of Temple Beth Chai Religious School’s curriculum,” said Education Director, Phyllis Lasky. “Our annual ‘Jewish Turkey Trot’ is the perfect way for our ‘Chai Kids’ to give back to the community. We are proud to be able to help many families through the Domestic Abuse Program at JFS.”
Proceeds from the “Turkey Trot” will be used to purchase Publix food cards and Wal-Mart gift cards for families of domestic abuse who are receiving assistance from JFS of Broward County. The funds will allow JFS to make the upcoming holidays more festive for these area families by providing Thanksgiving meals, gifts and treats for Chanukah, and Chanukah presents for young children.
